Region 8 Representative for Piedmont Intergroup:
- Attends each Region 8 Business Assembly (two per year, Spring and Fall known as the First and Second Business Assemblies).
- The Representative is required to join a committee and participate in that committee and continue to participate in that committee between assemblies online or phone.
- The Representative takes minutes of the Assembly and reports back to the Intergroup.
SOAR8 P&P, Section 6.1: Certificate of Eligibility shall be submitted to Region Secretary annually in January and throughout the year as changes occur. Rep is eligible to vote in Assembly only if duly registered with Region Secretary. Bylaws, Article III, Section 2.b: Each member Intergroup and/or National/Language Service Board shall be entitled to one (1) vote in the Region 8 Business Assembly for each 10 groups or parts thereof. Section 3.b: Region-8 Representatives should be selected for sound judgment, experience, stability, willingness to serve and faithful adherence to the program of the Twelve Steps of Overeaters Anonymous and the Twelve Traditions. A Region-8 Representative should have a minimum of six (6) consecutive month’s current abstinence.
Vice Chair:
Vice-Chair 1. Serves in the absence of the chair. 2. Assists the chairwhenever needed. 3. Presides over the Activities Committees. 4. May attend all standing committee meetings. 5. May be removed after two (2) consecutive and unexcused absences from meetings of PI. (See Article IV, Section 7)
Parliamentarian – Parliamentary Authority (Article VII) The rules contained in the current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised shall govern the PI in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with these bylaws, the Overeaters Anonymous, Inc. Bylaws, Subpart B or any special rules of order the PI may adopt.
(PIPO) OUTREACH – Responsible for calling Group IG Representatives to see if they need anything from the Piedmont IG.Ensure all groups have a group IG representative, know the dates and times of meetings, Also, helos people how to access the Piedmont monthly meetings. This is an open position for someone that wants to understand what OA resources are available and how we can use these resources locally. Currently, Carol is working on an article for the online magazine we advertise in. She will write something about the IDEA day in November.
EVENT CHAIR- Manages Volunteers, programming and place for 4-5 events a Year:
Unity Day-usually 4th week in February, Summer Social – Usually mid-May, Sponsorship Day -3rd week in August, IDEA Day (International Day Experiencing Abstinence), 12th Step Within Day– December 12th
JOURNAL EDITOR: Is responsible for editing articles submitted for the Winter Journal from members and groups of the PI. The Piedmont Intergroup Winter Journal is looking for online. T
CONVENTION COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS – Registrations, Transportation, decorations, room coordinators, getting and coordinating speakers, etc.
